Friday Letters

Dear Time,

I find myself restless this week because of the few things I didn't do--
like accept the summer internship to Boston two years ago,
or relax a little more during college (and now),
or speak up for myself on one (or many) occasions.
I'm not usually one to live in regret, so I'm not sure where all this "wishing for what once was or could have been" nonesense is coming from. My life has been good, and I've been blessed with a lot.

Sincerely,
A restless soul hoping to find contentment and peace

Dear Nordstrom Rack,

Umm...hello?! Where have you BEEN all my life?!
I'm so glad we've found each other.
I don't have much of a shopping budget, but that's what makes this relationship so perfect--
you just don't demand that much.

Sincerely,
a hopefully-not-soon-to-be shopaholic
_____

Dear Reading,

I have missed thee.
Somewhere amidst all the Big Girl transitions I forgot how much I actually enjoy devouring the pages of a book.
I'll try not to forget you so easily in the future.

Sincerely,
the wanna-be bookworm
_____

Dear Tredmill,

I bought you with a pretty penny and am determined to get my money's worth.
You have been warned.

Sincerely,
the couch potato on strike
_____

Dear Morgan, UT,

We started out on somewhat poor terms.
You were cold and ugly. I was scared and closed minded.
There were a few times when I caught a glimmer of the friendship we could have--but those were far and in between eons of drought.
I suppose I could have done a better job of seeing you for what you're worth, which is apparently quite a lot according to real estate folk.
But I guess I was blind.
I can't honestly say I've enjoyed most of my time in your keep, but I can say I'm grateful.
Somehow, with every drive I've made down Old Highway Rd, your rugged mountains, wide valley and trickling streams opened the doors for forgiveness, healing and fresh perspective.
I probably could have been more humble, more gracious, more open, more...anything.
But I did the best I could with what I had.
Now, let's forgive and forget, and make this summer the best I've ever had!

Sincerely,
a not-so-small-town girl
_____

Dear Home,

This goes to you Arizona--I'm coming for you shortly.
In less than 6 days I'll board my Southwest flight to PHX.
I'll order my gingerale, pop open my Kindle and probably stare into space until the flight attendant asks me to put my tray back up.
I'll look out the window and recall all the reasons why I miss you so much when I'm away.
I'll then think of my family and how great it's going to be that we'll all be together for the first time in two years.
I'm sincerely looking forwad to sharing a room and bathroom with my little sister(s), of seeing Tanner for the first time in a long time, and catching up with other family members and friends.
AW's wedding should be a splendid event, too.

Sincerely,
a homebody at heart
