My own version of Pinterest

I can't get myself to stick to the Pinterest craze. I'm not sure why--perhaps I'm subconsciously protecting myself from another addicting social media source. IDK. But below is my own little version of the board pinning, creative sharing site. See what's inspiring me today:

I love this idea for an anniversary card. So simple. So catchy. So awesome.

My parents don't like to make plans for the holidays. Their philosophy is that the holidays are meant for relaxation and personal contemplation. SO. Since I'm going home for Thanksgiving, I'm going to have lots of down-time on my hands. However, instead of just sleeping around, I want to be pleasantly productive. Meaning, I want to do the things I actually enjoy doing--things that make me happy, make me smile. The things I don't do when I'm caught up in work and what ever what-nots. Ergo: the sheet music above. I want to play lots of piano while I'm at home. And cook with my sisters. And go jogging in the mornings. And visit my grandparents. And take lots of pictures. And quote Jim Gaffigan with Jake. And watch movies. And study church history. And do anything else that tickles my fancy.

I've paired this book with my D&C reading, and  I must say, the Doctrine and Covenants feels a WHOLE lot more relevant now that I'm starting to understand the historical context of the revelations and characters. Sometimes the history can be dry, but overall, my scripture reading has been enriched and my mind enlightened. For example, did you know that Joseph Smith was 22 years old when he and Martin Harris lost the first 116 pages of the Book of Mormon. Twenty-two! That's my age, people. Reading that story in DC 3 and in the book above made me feel much more validated in my quest to understand personal revelation. It takes practice. And clearly I am not the only one who has to learn through trial and error. What a relief...
