Email number 1:
"Hey are you still interested in TA-ing in the fall? Let me know."
-Advertising Professor
YES! I was really hoping I'd get the TA job. I talked to my professor about it several months ago, but because of schedules constantly changing there was no way to really get a guarantee. I loved my intro to advertising class, and I've recently felt a push to invest more in the program from an academic perspective. Being a TA just seemed like a good route. And now...I get to be one! yay!
Email number 2:
"Greetings! 2010 is making history for FOL. We have had more applicants apply then ever before, and we have received more applications to be a peer mentor than ever before as well. After careful scrutiny you have been selected as one who will be a great example and peer mentor to those individuals who will be joining us at FOL this fall [...] We are excited to have you and will be in touch with further information [...] Thanks so much!"
-FOL People
Hurray! I've always wanted to be an EFY counselor (what does that have to do with FOL?) but have yet to be blessed with the opportunity. After expressing that desire to a good friend, I received an email from her about FOL, a program created to help incoming freshman learn about leadership opportunities at BYU. It sounded like a great idea, so I applied. Now--for three days in August--I get to hang out with a bunch of freshman and teach them about all the awesome programs available at BYU. Honestly, I can't think of a better way to end my summer.
